Peter and Zak, qualified bricklayers

Alternative Bricklaying is not your usual Melbourne bricklayer. Founded by Peter Kolobaric in 1999, the business is built on high quality certified bricklaying and masonry work delivered in a straightforward, personal way.

Peter learnt the trade from his father over 40 years ago before completing his Australian bricklaying apprenticeship. Today, he works alongside his son Zak, who has also completed his Australian apprenticeship and qualified as a bricklayer. Together they combine three generations of family knowledge with Australian trade qualifications.

Rather than a large crew where your job gets passed from person to person, you'll deal directly with Peter and Zak from start to finish.

Contemporary and period work

We lay brickwork for contemporary designs with clean lines and modern detail. We also rebuild and match brickwork on period homes, including Federation, Edwardian and California bungalow styles across Melbourne's inner suburbs.

More than 40 years of experience. Fully qualified bricklayers. Public liability insurance up to $5 million. Small to medium residential work across Melbourne.

Renovations, extensions, retaining walls, brick fences, fireplace removals, window and door alterations, and structural brick changes are all part of what we do. If the job needs care and skill, we are interested.
